Readiris doesn’t see your scanner

First of all we need to check that a TWAIN driver is installed for your scanner. Verify the contents of this folder: Macintosh HD => Library => Image Capture => Twain data source => *.ds. If you see your scanner model .ds, continue to the next sections. If there is no driver for your scanner, you will have to install it.

Mac OS X 10.6 and above and Readiris Pro 12

This operating system is 64-bit. If your scanner drivers are 32-bit you will need to do the following:

  1. Go to the Applications folder > Readiris folder
  2. Ctrl + left click on your Readiris Pro 12 application and select “Get Info” OR select the Readiris application and press the keyboard shortcut ?+i
  3. Tick the “Open in 32-bit mode” check box
  4. Close this window and launch Readiris

Mac OS X 10.5 and below with PowerPC architecture and Readiris Pro 11

  • Verify the driver architecture.
    1. Go to the Applications folder and launch Image Capture
    2. In the menu bar at the top go to Devices > Browse Devices
    3. Select your scanner model
    4. If your scanner model is on PowerPC architecture, you will have to open Readiris using Rosetta
      1. Go to the Applications folder > Readiris folder
      2. Right click on your Readiris Pro 11 application and select “Get Info”
      3. Tick the “Open With Rosetta” check box
      4. Close this window and launch Readiris
