Reading can be a challenge for people with print and reading difficulties. How would you feel if you had a self-voicing PDF reader to help students read their work aloud, and help them with exams?

With ClaroPDF, you can have your PDF files read aloud using a built-in screen reader to ensure maximum readability.

It’s easy to use. Just click to indicate where to start reading and press play. Your text will then be read aloud with highlighting with any colour you choose, making text easier to follow.

Don’t worry if you need to go back, you can do this as many times as you want. You can start and stop the screen reader as required using the play and stop buttons.

Press pause at any time to annotate your files. When you are finished you can print your finalised PDF.

It’s a simple, effective study tool that helps with reading and is now available on Windows machines as an extra on ClaroRead for PC. You can also use it on Android and the Web.

“Wonderful app for students and anyone with accessibility needs. Developers are also very responsive with support. – 5-star review from our App Store.

Click “Add” on the spell check window and you can add the word to your own custom spelling exceptions list so that ClaroRead stops identifying it as a spelling mistake. You can manage your list of custom spelling exceptions by opening settings and choosing the “Check tab”.

If you are using spell check inside a Google Docs document then you will also have the option to do a spell check on the whole document. Place the cursor anywhere in the document then press the spell check button. When the spell check window appears press “Check all”. ClaroRead will perform a spell check on the whole document, and work through each word until it no longer detects any spelling mistakes. If you use the check spelling and homophones button to start spell check, then “Check all” will perform a spelling and homophone check on the whole document.

We have made improvements to how reading and highlighting works in Google Docs. Text highlighting is now much more accurate as the document is read back to you.

iOS 12 and ClaroPDF

All our Apps were tested and work fine on the new iOS 12. However, a small number of users have reported that after updating to iOS 12 they find that ClaroPDF closes about 3 seconds after it is started.

We have managed to replicate the problem. We are currently investigating to find a general solution. In the meantime, if you are affected, there are technical work-arounds: mail support@clarosoftware.com with details of your device and we’ll identify what is best for you. Sorry for any inconvenience.
