ClaroRead for Chromebook version 17 introduces spell check as a premium feature.
Place the cursor in a document and press the spell check button to start spell checking. The spell check window will appear and you can see suggestions for corrections as well as definitions of each word. Choose a suggestion, click change, and the word will be corrected inside your document.
You can also perform homophone checking as part of the spell check. On the toolbar, press the drop down button next to the spell check button. Use the “Check spelling and homophones” button that appears to check the current word for both spelling mistakes and possible homophones.
Click “Add” on the spell check window and you can add the word to your own custom spelling exceptions list so that ClaroRead stops identifying it as a spelling mistake. You can manage your list of custom spelling exceptions by opening settings and choosing the “Check tab”.
If you are using spell check inside a Google Docs document then you will also have the option to do a spell check on the whole document. Place the cursor anywhere in the document then press the spell check button. When the spell check window appears press “Check all”. ClaroRead will perform a spell check on the whole document, and work through each word until it no longer detects any spelling mistakes. If you use the check spelling and homophones button to start spell check, then “Check all” will perform a spelling and homophone check on the whole document.
Google Docs Reading and Highlighting Improvements
We have made improvements to how reading and highlighting works in Google Docs. Text highlighting is now much more accurate as the document is read back to you.
